Minister

For over forty years I’ve served as an ordained minister in various settings and capacities, including but not limited to interim pastor, congregational associate minister, devotional magazine editor, and hospital chaplain.

These days I serve mostly as a free range minister. I enjoy leading retreats (church-wide adult retreats, women’s retreats or staff retreats), workshops, and seminars. Preaching has always been my first love (you can watch one of my sermons below) and I enjoy filling in during a pastoral vacation, sabbatical or interim.

I’ve led grief seminars for churches ranging from weekend events to one day seminars to one time program (or example, on a Wednesday night.)

I also serve as a clergy coach for ministers who feel stuck, who need another set of eyes on their current situation, who want to make positive changes or who want the accountability of a coach.

Testimonial from a weekend grief seminar:

Dear Peggy,

I hope you got a sense of the deep appreciation in the room for you time with us, your wisdom and experience, your emotional openness and humor, your careful preparation, and your way of sharing yourself with us, which gave everyone there tacit permission to do the same!

I have been hearing gratitude expressed for all these things and want to add my personal thank you to that of all the others.

Gratefully,

Kyle Matthews, Minster of Pastoral Care, First Baptist Church (Greenville, SC)
